Ten Ways to Thank Your Awesome Customers
If you’re in the customer service business, and let’s face it, we all are to some degree, ’tis the season to express sincere gratitude. A verbal “thank you” is a given, but taking a little extra effort will not only be appreciated but will create customers for life. Here are ten ways to hit a home run with your best customers this season!
10 Ways to Say Thanks
10 – Write it!
In the age of all things digital, receiving a handwritten note can go a long way. Pour yourself a beverage of choice, grab your favorite pen and some nice branded stationary and get writing! For your best customers, consider including a small gift card or coupon.
9 – A social media ‘shout out’
Commit to doing a ‘ThankfulThursday’ shoutout on social media and give kudos to those people and businesses that have supported you this year.
8 – Host a small gathering
If you have an actual business location, pick an afternoon and invite your customers in for complimentary coffee, tea and treats. Don’t have a location? Reserve a room at a local coffee shop or bakery and do the same thing. Send your out-of-market customers a gift certificate to a local spot so they can participate virtually.
7 – Share your knowledge
Invite your customers to a free class, demo, seminar or education session. Keep it fun and informal and be the expert your customers trust you to be!
6 – Reward their loyalty
If you don’t already offer a loyalty or referral program, this is a good time of year to start something. If you already do have a loyalty program, double the rewards or perks this month.
5 – Give some cool swag
A quick Google search will return lots of ideas for branded items you can give out to your customers this season. Consumable items like snacks or drinks are generally a safe bet as are tech gifts like phone chargers, earbuds, or flash drives. Consider something unique like a first aid kit, or custom fortune cookies. There are endless options in all price ranges.
4 – Give a discount, just ‘cuz.
Offering a customer an unexpected discount simply as a way of saying “thanks” is a nice gesture that will go a long way. Make sure you communicate that the reason you’re giving the discount is because you appreciate their business.
3 – Pick up the phone!
It’s easy to let your fingers do the talking nowadays but sometimes it’s nice to pick up the phone and call someone. If you’re going to make customer thank you calls, this is NOT the time to try and up-sell them on your services. Keep it brief, sincere, and to the point – thank you, I appreciate you, happy holidays, done.
2 – Say it with a video
Have a friend or colleague record a video of you saying thanks and send it to your email list and share on social media. Show your personality, be yourself, and allow your customers to connect with you.
1 – Give back to your community
Reward a customers action with a charitable action. For example, you can choose to donate $1 every time a customer checks in to your store, or do the same with canned goods. Donate a coat or a toy for every purchase over a specified dollar amount. Your customers will appreciate you giving back to their community.
Expressing your sincere gratitude is one of the most important gifts you can give your customers this season.
