Finding Your Inner Font
Fonts have personalities.
It’s not surprising when you realize that the letter forms are actually inspired by the human form. Think of the letter A and T, or the last time you reluctantly did the YMCA at a party. Discovering which font speaks to you is a fun process, and you can finally say goodbye to Times New Roman, if you want. Use the guide below to determine which font type you are.
Are you a Serif? Do you take yourself seriously? If you are an academic or are applying for a job that requires a suit and tie, collect antiques or like period movies then the serif is for you. Think classic and historic.
Are you a Sans-Serif? If you like Ikea furniture and lean toward the minimalist side of things then the sans is for you. These type faces are modern, sleek and paired down to the essentials.
Are you a Slab-Serif? Do people tell you that you have a big personality? If you are bold and maybe little loud then the slab is for you. Think sports team logos, and big poster type.
Are you a Script? Are you fanciful and feminine? If you are drawn to wedding invitations then the script is for you. Keep in mind that writing an email entirely in script may offend some people. Reserve script for titles only.
Are you a Decorative font? If none of the above speak to you, then you maybe a one-of-a-kind, decorative font. These tend to be a little over the top, so use with caution.
